Darryn Young

Darryn's journey in the building industry began over two decades ago as an apprentice carpenter. His passion for outdoor construction quickly became apparent, and he spent years honing his craft working on everything from simple deck builds to complex architectural pergola designs.

In 2007, Darryn founded Undercover Concepts with a clear vision: to bring the same level of quality and attention to detail found in high-end home construction to outdoor living spaces. He believed that a pergola or patio shouldn't just be functional—it should be a beautiful extension of the home that adds real value to how families live.

Today, Undercover Concepts has completed over 500 projects across Melbourne's suburbs, from contemporary louvre roof systems in Brighton to rustic timber pergolas in the Dandenong Ranges. Darryn remains hands-on with every project, personally overseeing designs and ensuring each build meets his exacting standards.

When he's not designing outdoor spaces, Darryn enjoys spending time in his own backyard with his family—under a pergola he built himself, of course. He's also an active member of the Master Builders Association and regularly contributes to industry publications on best practices in outdoor construction.
